Nancy, the cradle of the New art in France

Today we want to travel to France to know the wonderful and flirtatious city of Nancy, in his cardinal moment of the Duchy of Lorraine. This city lodges an impressive architecture of the XVIIIth century, and a few wonderful examples of buildings of New art. Do you want to know it?

The style New art created its own school in Nancy in 1901. This new art wanted to break with the past, preparing nuesvas forms and lines especially linked with the nature. Crystal, glass and color in the furniture were his principal characteristics. The School of Nancy bloomed like one of the best of Europe.

A walk along the city reveals to us majestic architectural examples of this epoch and this style. Between these examples you cannot allow visiting Brasserie Flo Excelsior, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the houses of the quarter of Saurupt, almost all of them with a touch of Art Deco.

Other of the elements typical of the style New art was the crystal of Daum, of which several making factories still stay in Nancy. You can visit the exclusive shops of the Square Stanislas, or know the impressive collection of this crystal that keeps in the Museum of Fine arts of Nancy.

The Square Stanislas honors a laid down Polish king who looked for refuge in the French court. Luis XIV entrusted him the Duchy of Lorraine, and Stanislas, with his fortune, helped to the poor and embellished the cities of the duchy. He constructed an architectural complex that joins the ancient quarters Nancy yuevos.

Precisely, the squares of the historical center of Nancy were catalogued in 1983 like Patrimonies of the Humanity by the UNESCO, by the wonderful set of architecture of the XVIIIth century that they form. Of them you have to visit the Square of the Carriere, with his sources, statues and the columns of the Palace of Government, and the Square of the Alliance, a calm square adorned with a source of Italian style.

Nevertheless, the biggest of three squares is the Square Stanislas, neuralgic center of Nancy, and that formerly was known as the Real Square, in gratitude to the king of France. It is an enormous square framed by an arch triumphal and surrounded by the most beautiful buildings, as the Theater, the Town hall and the Museum of Fine arts.

Symbol of Nancy is the wonderful Door of Gold, as well as Stanislas's statue, which appears to this square. Not that to say has that you have to approach up to this city of this one of France.
