Flavors of Dominican Republic

If there is something that distinguishes the peoples it is his gastronomy, in her there turn out to be reflected the different cultures that have influenced his creation.

They exist a big variety of plates that the Dominican kitchen offers, delightful recipes of Creole meal where there are mixed flavors of the Spanish and African kitchen.

To enjoy his saucers is also to do a trip towards the colonizing past where gentlemen and slaves without knowing it, were creating a new culture across the miscellany of ingredients brought from his fatherlands. Inside the big variety of plates that we can find there exist some of them that turn out to be the most popular:
The stew: It is a type of stew that is prepared usually for big occasions or festivities. In his preparation it takes bovine meat, potatoes, banana and grasses as the cilantro that give him an exquisite and special flavor.

The Flag: It is a simple recipe that is in all the Dominican tables, composed by white rice, beans of red color and meat.

The Locrio: He is another outstanding figure of the kitchen of this country, being what more is alike a “Spanish paella“, the rice to give to you it gets together with shrimps, herring, sardines and cod.

Chicken Stings: with a delightful flavor that is based on his preparation, it is a "rapid" meal of the calls and it consists sliced of chicken spent by flour and fried food, what makes them creaking. This plate is accompanied usually on a good beer.

The Croutons: indispensable complement and fundamental garrison in the Dominican kitchen, also knows them with the name of “fried food“ and they are not any more not less than banana pieces fried with a pinch of salt and in some places they add vinegar and garlic.

As for the sweets this culture possesses a big desserts variety, being a tradition the confectioner's that has spent his recipes and secrets from generation to generation.

Between the most well-known sweets we find the Sweet of Milk and the Coconut and a famous dessert that is known so much inside as out of the borders of the country that is the Majarete, a light dessert by means of streaky corn, sugar, milk of coconut, vanilla and cinnamon in dust … really a delight!
